Demarcation Light for Escalators
Mathis Electronics presents –
Our new LED Demarcation Light for escalators! Better than typical fluorescent lights! Here’s why:
Lower power consumption – Our LED unit consumes 1 watt of power, compared to the approximately 35w consumed by a typical fluorescent unit. That's a savings of over $40/year at $.14 per kWh if the unit is on 24/7
More efficient use of light – The difference between our LED demarcation light and a typical fluorescent unit is like the difference between the stars and the sun. The purpose of the sun’s light is to illuminate the earth, whereas stars are for signs. Like the sun, a typical fluorescent unit puts out a large amount of light in every direction, illuminating everything under the escalator. Our LED light, however, emits bright points of light against a black background, much like stars in the night sky, signaling the passenger that he is approaching a danger point. The overall light output of our LED demarcation light is less than that of a fluorescent unit, but it is only directed where it is needed, and is much brighter at the LEDs than at any point on a fluorescent tube (see technical specs below).
Longer life – Depending on conditions, our LED demarcation light can provide up to 10 years of continuous service without significant dimming. We offer a 5 year warranty on all units.
Efficient design - repels water, inexpensive
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Model MES970
Light Source 24 green light emitting diodes.
Light Output The light output of one of these green leds, measured at 15” directly in front of the unit is 12.2 lux. (Compare with 1.8 lux, the amount of light which is emitted from a ½” diameter area of a typical fluorescent lamp, measured without the green filter. When the filter is added, the light output of the fluorescent lamp is further reduced to perhaps 1 lux, depending on what type of filter is used.)
Input Voltage 24vac or 24vdc full wave unfiltered (24vdc regulated will not adequately illuminate the leds)
Mounting mounts to two studs. Mounting holes are 0.185” diameter. Mounting holes are 16.85” apart.
Weight 0.5 lbs.
Dimensions 18.0 in x 1.0 in x 0.56 in
Durability The typical life expectancy of LEDs at 20mA is about 50,000 hours of illumination. At the above listed input voltages, the average current through the LEDs is 14mA, so life expectancy should be greater, although there is no data available at 14mA. Unit is waterproof.
Warranty 5-year warranty. Warranty does not cover vandalism, acts of God, or improper installation or usage.
Specifications are subject to change without notice.
